Style and sustenance at Meme arts cafe bar in Stroud

I just discovered Meme, a great new arts cafe bar in the market town of Stroud. The outside is painted black and adorned with chalk drawings while “come on in, we’re open” is scribbled across the door in beautiful handwriting. It’s a place that instantly grabs your attention and pulls you in.

Inside Meme it’s equally as cool with a distinct Scandi influence; plenty of wood and Ercol seating dotted with cushions and sheepskins. Huge blackboards line the walls boasting a delicious food and drinks menu.

Food-wise it’s a relaxed and tasty affair, offering both health and indulgence using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients as much as possible. There’s also a great children’s menu while drinks range from hot mulled cider and chai lattes to local ales.

There are regular events listed on the facebook site and with boxes of books and toys it’s very family friendly too. Situated opposite the Subscription Rooms, a great venue for live entertainment, it’s well worth a visit for lunch or a drink in the evening if you visit Stroud.
